Naturellement’ [na-tu-rè-le-man] means ‘natural’ in French and the unit is strictly faithful to its name.

Through over 30 years of research and development, we have created an extensive product line of natural/organic handcrafted food products, available throughout India. Our extensive product line ranges from jams to breakfast cereals, fruit syrups to condiments, over 40 products in all. All products are made in small batches with carefully selected high quality raw material,
organic and locally sourced if available.

In our Garden Cafe you can enjoy our vegetarian and vegan dishes in a relaxed peaceful atmosphere.
Our bakery produces small batches of artisan baked goods with carefully selected ingredients, using traditional recipes and methods.
We produce jams, jellies, marmalades, fruit syrups, nut butters, pickles, chutneys, sauerkraut, pesto, mayonnaise, mustard and breakfast cereals; all handcrafted and adhering to strict hygienic standards.

We support organic farming, we use sustainable practices, but most importantly the backbone
of our company consists of our team of women from the surrounding villages.
Through years of training and education they have turned into highly skilled culinary artisans.

Our Humble Beginnings

In 1990 Naturellement started its endeavour in a simple store-room in the food distribution complex, “Pour Tous,” with the idea of producing a few breakfast products for the community, as well as taking care of the surplus fruit from Auroville’s gardens and orchards. Initiated by two Swedish women, a few ladies from the nearby village were employed and trained. The hope was that the little enterprise would after some time be taken care of by the local women themselves.

But the women, mostly illiterate, needed help when the products quickly became popular and orders started coming from Pondicherry and Chennai.   Over the years, the demand for high quality food products  continuously grew and created what is our company today; a fully fledged modern production unit with an in house bakery as well as a restaurant and a gift shop, giving employment to over 30 women from the surrounding villages.

Visit Us in Auroville

We strive to use as many organically grown ingredients as possible from Auroville farms: eggs, milk, cheese, seasonal fruits and vegetables, while greens and herbs come from our own kitchen garden. In our kitchen we strictly avoid the use of refined oils. Instead, we use extra virgin olive oil, organic cold-pressed coconut oil, butter and homemade ghee. Everything we make is made from scratch, such as vegan mayonnaise, ketchup, pasta, ravioli, etc.

Our whole range of breakfast cereals is prepared in small batches and roasted In the wood oven. We insist on using only the highest quality natural ingredients such as organic flours, fresh butter, cream and eggs.

Everything possible is made to assure an outstanding product. Our production premises assure the utmost hygienic conditions together with our well trained workforce. Only the best and finest raw materials are used, organic and locally sourced if available. Making our jams and marmalade the fresh fruit is hand cut, the open pots stirred by hand and when ready, filled by hand as well Truly handcrafted form the beginning to the end. Each lot of peanuts we receive is tested and proved free from aflatoxins before being turned into peanut butter. Compromises on quality are never made!

In Auroville millions of trees have been planted and widespread forests were developed. Parallel with the reforestation work, numerous organic farms and orchards were created in order to produce natural and healthy food, while always sustaining the environment.

Auroville’s farms and orchards are supplying us directly with fresh organic products, from vegetables and fruits to milk and rice. 

We are sorting our waste for recycling and are turning our organic waste into compost. In order to reduce our ecological footprint, great effort is taken to source locally available produce whenever possible. 

We are also careful with our water usage and have a waste water treatment plant in our compound.

We aim to make all employees feel motivated and appreciated, team work being most important. Help and support in economic, health and family matters is given as well as nutritional lunches, English classes, sport activities, study and recreational tours.

Our team of women from rural villages have over the years turned into culinary artisans and are now forming the backbone of our company.
